The Auburn Mountainview Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Federal Way Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Auburn Mountainview's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
Auburn Mountainview's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Kentlake as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Kayla Kisling was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Melanie Duran also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Kisling wasn't the only one making solid contact: Auburn Mountainview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Federal Way). They were the clear victors by a 19-12 margin over Jefferson on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the contest before.
The team relied heavily on Sosephina Sailiai, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-6. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Meeghan Meagher, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Auburn Mountainview's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Federal Way, they moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Federal Way's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Auburn Mountainview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Federal Way, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Auburn Mountainview keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Auburn Mountainview took their win against Federal Way when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-1 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
