The Wesley Chapel Wildcats will head out to face off against the Springstead Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wesley Chapel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
While Wesley Chapel's victory against Cypress Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wesley Chapel skirted past Cypress Creek 3-2. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Lucy Cavall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Wesley Chapel's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Martin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Springstead hadn't done well against Hernando recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Springstead had just enough and edged out Hernando 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
AVA MILLER made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on RACHEL RIVERA, who scored a run while going 2-for-5. KAMIE POND was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Springstead's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both Wesley Chapel and Springstead just can't seem to miss. Wesley Chapel has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Springstead struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wesley Chapel skirted past Springstead 8-7 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wesley Chapel since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
