Jack Britt extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-6. They fell 7-2 to the Cape Fear Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Wednesday.
Jack Britt saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ta'Niyah Turner, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Cape Fear, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games.
On Cape Fear's side, McKinley Kolasa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Kolasa has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cape Fear let Ashtyn Westbrook and Addie Davis run wild. Westbrook went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Davis went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that Westbrook has scored this season. Chloe Bueing was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Jack Britt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 loss against Laney on the 18th. As for Cape Fear, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-4 win against Purnell Swett on the 13th.
