Basketball Recap: Brady Comes Up Short

Brady was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 79-40 loss at the hands of the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 72-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Brady lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cinch Sanger, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Sanger is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Payton Miller, who had eight points.

Maywood/Hayes Center was led to victory by Grady Erickson and Kade Broz. Erickson went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and five steals, while Broz put up 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Erickson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Schwenk, who posted six points along with six boards and five assists.

Brady's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Brady will welcome South Loup at 4:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, they will venture away from home to square off against Paxton at 4:45 p.m. on December 28th. Paxton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
