Chenango Valley has gone a perfect 10-0 against Seton Catholic Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors will head out to face off against the Saints at 5:00 p.m. Chenango Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Chenango Valley is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Owego Free Academy just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the River Hawks. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the River Hawks since on Wednesday.
Amelia Paske made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Seton Catholic Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Chenango Forks on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Saints as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Olivia Nazarenus was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
Nazarenus wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Buckley, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Buckley has hit this season.
Seton Catholic Central picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Chenango Valley, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
Chenango Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Seton Catholic Central in their previous matchup last Monday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
