If the Conway Springs Cardinals were feeling good off their 59-25 takedown of the Douglass Bulldogs on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Conway Springs' rough 58-35 loss to Independent on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Conway Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Independent is ranked 18th).
Despite the defeat, Conway Springs had strong showings from Melissa Ebenkamp, who scored 18 points, and Haylee Osner, who scored 11 points.
Conway Springs now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Independent, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which somehow isn't as good as their 5-1-1 record this season.
Conway Springs will head out on the road to challenge Chaparral at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Independent will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Douglass on January 30th.
