The Edina Hornets will square off against the Wayzata Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Edina will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Edina turned things around against Hopkins on Monday. They never let the Royals get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. With that victory, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Ella Meyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sylvia VanNorman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Kapoor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Edina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wayzata hadn't done well against Eden Prairie recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Eagles 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since May 13, 2024.
Alexa Larson looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Lexi Drasher was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Sophia Elswick, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Wayzata has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Edina, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edina hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Wayzata struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edina beat Wayzata 4-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
