The Mullins Auctioneers won the last time they faced the Marion Swamp Foxes, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mullins came out on top against Marion by a score of 64-54.
JJ Davis was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. Another player making a difference was Deyon Ford, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Despite the loss, Marion still got an impressive performance from Jamorius Wilson, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Charles White Jr was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though they lost, Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mullins only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Mullins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mullins will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lee Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Lee Central is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Marion, they will head out on the road to face off against Kingstree at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kingstree will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Marion is ranked 36th).
