Falls Church hasn't had much luck against Hayfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will challenge the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Falls Church's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Rock Ridge 10-0. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Matthew Roeder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Stefin Schneider was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Falls Church: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Karl Hirz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Falls Church was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hayfield got the win against Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-0. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Colonials recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Zach Suga, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Ross, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.
Falls Church is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hayfield, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Falls Church has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hayfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Falls Church suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Hayfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
