Wasatch extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 9-14. They came up short against the Salem Hills Skyhawks, falling 18-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Skyhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.
Peyton Sunland made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brylie Callister, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Salem Hills, the win keeps them at an undefeated 22-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.3 runs this season.
On Salem Hills' side, Jocile Norman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Norman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Leila Stevenson was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Aliyah Elmer was another key player, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wasatch will face off against Morgan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wasps' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Salem Hills, they will challenge Desert Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
