The Skyline Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Skyline is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Even though Frederick scored an imposing 65 points on Tuesday, Skyline still came out on top. Skyline managed a 71-65 win over Frederick. The win was just what Skyline needed coming off of a 77-47 defeat in their prior contest.
Talan Starcevich continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andy Erives, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Mountain View won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 87-52 loss at the hands of Riverdale Ridge. Mountain View's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Dylan Garland put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 24 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Tyson Mares-Benz was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Skyline's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Skyline have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 20 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Skyline came up short against Mountain View when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 52-40. Can Skyline avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
