The McAllen Bulldogs stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 67-31 win over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North on the road. Given McAllen's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North is ranked 987th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading McAllen to victory were D'aundre Canada and Mario Villegas. Canada scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Villegas scored 23 points along with five steals. Villegas hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Dylan Benavidez, who scored ten points.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Salinas, who scored seven points.
McAllen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.
McAllen will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against McAllen Memorial at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in McAllen Memorial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they will head out on the road to challenge Pioneer at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
