The Belen Eagles pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-66 to Gallup. If Belen hoped to take revenge for the 54-49 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Belen still got an impressive performance from Jordi Rojo, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and five assists. Samuel Sanchez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Belen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Gallup, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belen will take on St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gallup, they will play host again and welcome Albuquerque Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Albuquerque Academy is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
