The Sickles Gryphons will square off against the Stoneman Douglas Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sickles took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Alonso, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Sickles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Alonso on Tuesday.
Ben Durda looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Jordan Yost was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilio Salgado, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Tigers.
Gio Rojas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Rojas was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Breylynn Courtney looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Bennett Gary, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Nick Diaz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Stoneman Douglas' victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Sickles, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
