The Ford Panthers will challenge the Van Vandals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Ford is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over Pittsburg. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Lilliana Ramirez and Payton Perez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ramirez tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Perez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Ramirez posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At bat, Ramirez went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Perez went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ford let Ryver Reid and Alexis Earls run wild. Reid went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Earls went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Reid a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Neustupa, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Ford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Van had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-2 win.
Ford's victory bumped their record up to 20-8-1. As for Van, their win bumped their record up to 27-5-2.
Ford couldn't quite get it done against Van in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 7-4. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
