Southwestern recap Oct. 3, 2012
Vista Murrieta extended the longest winning streak in Southwestern this week by beating Palisades, 42-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Chaparral took down Santa Fe 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Justin Harris ran for 218 yards and caught one passes for eight yards in the win.
Temecula Valley's dynamic duo of Kyle Plantier and Andre Armstrong proved tough for Tahquitz to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Plantier threw for 217 yards and one touchdown and Armstrong had 86 yards receiving. Griffin Doran helped Temecula Valley's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 79 yards.
Murrieta Mesa's Chase Chambers and Khalil Sharpe have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Chambers has thrown for 1577 yards this season, while Sharpe, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 38 catches for 445 yards. The Pumas' Harris leads the league in rushing yards with 764.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Rams take on Chaparral. At the moment, Murrieta Mesa is in third, while Ryan Tukua's team is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Justin Schaeffer's team and the Pumas face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Rams comes in having scored 253 this season, while Chaparral has scored 190.
The Pumas led Southwestern in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on the Chiefs. Harris in the win.
