The Jefferson Dragons will face off against the Chamberlain Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Jefferson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Robinson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Dragons were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Knights on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Dragons have beaten the Knights on their field since May 3, 2019.
Madisen Fleming made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Fleming was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Amaya Argilagos was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Amaris Dominguez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Chamberlain entered their tilt with Tampa Catholic on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Storm have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Like Jefferson, Chamberlain also got a great game from a two-way player: Daria Bush. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Bush has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
Chamberlain's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jefferson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Chamberlain struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
