The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays came tearing into Saturday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Howells-Dodge and snuck past 40-37. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Guardian Angels Central Catholic has scored all year.
Despite the loss, Howells-Dodge had strong showings from Jordyn Ratzlaff, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Kenadie Throener, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Guardian Angels Central Catholic pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Howells-Dodge, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Guardian Angels Central Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Bergan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop Bergan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Guardian Angels Central Catholic is ranked 19th). As for Howells-Dodge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lutheran-Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
