The Eastern Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Berne Union Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern has four straight victories, Berne Union has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Eastern can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Southern. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.
Eastern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavan Smith out in front who rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Lance Hensler, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, Berne Union fell victim to Fairfield Christian Academy's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Knights on the road and fell 35-0.
Eastern's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points per game. As for Berne Union, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
