Ryder Kopacz and Ian Wasielewski made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Kopacz pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wasielewski didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. At bat, Kopacz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Wasielewski got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Wasielewski a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mattingly Goc, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joe Insera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Bishop Timon-St. Jude always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Seneca West only posted an OBP of .233.
Bishop Timon-St. Jude's record now sits at 7-8. As for Cheektowaga, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cheektowaga has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop Timon-St. Jude struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
