Two dominant guards in Kobe Sims and Julian Graham are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fox Creek Predators will venture away from home to take on the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Fox Creek made easy work of American Leadership Academy and carried off a 67-41 win. The Predators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 26 points or more this season.
Fox Creek can attribute much of their success to Gavin Baskett, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chorsheak White, who put up 12 points.
Meanwhile, Aiken blew past Gilbert, posting a 64-37 victory. The contest marked the Fighting Green Hornets' most dominant win of the season so far.
Fox Creek better keep an eye on Graham. He was instrumental in Aiken's win, going 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Graham has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarrant McKenzie, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and five assists.
Aiken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.
Aiken now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Fox Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Fox Creek hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.2 points per game. However, it's not like Aiken struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.6 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Fox Creek against Aiken in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured an 86-59 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fox Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
