Diman RVT has gone a perfect 6-0 against Old Colony RVT recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bengals will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Diman RVT took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Brockton an 8-0 shutout.
Samuel Perry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Perry was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Perreira, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Cam Falcon, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Old Colony RVT hadn't beaten Greater New Bedford RVT on the road since June 1, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Cougars walked away with a 3-0 win over the Bears.
Like Diman RVT, Old Colony RVT also got a great game from a two-way player: Marc Donati. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Donati a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Camden Valle was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Michael Tomkiewicz was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Diman RVT pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Old Colony RVT, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Everything went Diman RVT's way against Old Colony RVT in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Diman RVT made off with a 15-0 win. Do the Bengals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
