The Clear Creek Golddiggers lost against the Vail Christian Saints back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Clear Creek fell 56-43 to Vail Christian. Clear Creek has not had much luck with Vail Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Clear Creek's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler O'Brien, who scored 20 points along with 4 steals. O'Brien scored a full 46.5% of Clear Creek's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zephyr Schuessler, who scored 14 points.
Among those leading the charge was Will Neumann, who scored 21 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Vail Christian's points. Charlie Neumann was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Clear Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Vail Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clear Creek will take on Platte Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Platte Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Vail Christian, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Plateau Valley at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th.
