The Delphi Community Oracles will challenge the Benton Central Bison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Thursday, Delphi Community got the win against Sheridan by a conclusive 19-9. The victory continues a trend for the Oracles in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Sami Leopard, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ava Mills, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delphi Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 26 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
While Benton Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Seeger 12-6 on Thursday.
Sydney Groves made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Chloe Linder was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Madison Minniear was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Delphi Community's record is now 6-3. As for Benton Central, their record now sits at 6-2.
Delphi Community's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Oracles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Benton Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Delphi Community continue to outrun the ball?
Delphi Community came up short against Benton Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 12-8. Can the Oracles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
