The Greenville Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilcox Central. While losing is never fun, Greenville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Jaguars are ranked 130th).
Leading Wilcox Central to victory were Tyler Moton and Javion Pettway. Moton scored 17 points, while Pettway scored ten points along with seven blocks and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyshawn Bowers, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Greenville dropped their record down to 3-21 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Wilcox Central, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Flying Squadron at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Highland Home knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Tigers likes a good challenge. As for Wilcox Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Booker T. Washington Magnet comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
