Softball Recap: Miramonte Wins Going Away Against Deer Valley

Miramonte's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Deer Valley Wolverines with a sharp 15-1 victory. The matchup marked the Matadors' most dominant win of the season.

Abby Warren was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Talia Kardon and Julia Quinn-Ferguson did most of the damage at the plate: Kardon went 3-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple, while Quinn-Ferguson went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs Kardon has posted since back in April of 2024. Lucy Daoust was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Miramonte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deer Valley only posted an OBP of .118.

Miramonte has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Deer Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Miramonte and Deer Valley will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Matadors will face off against rival Mt. Diablo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Deer Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
