The Jasper Eagles will challenge the Southwest Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Jasper, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Jasper made easy work of Rich Hill and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Chloe Storm spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Emersyn Bass was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Southwest came up short against Crane on Monday, falling 17-5.
Jacee Durossette made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Addison Keates was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Jasper pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Southwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jasper hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Southwest struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Jasper's way against Southwest when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Jasper made off with a 15-4 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
