Basketball Recap: Hooper Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After flying high against Macon-East Montgomery Academy last Thursday, Hooper Academy came back down to earth. The Hooper Academy Colts took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights on Tuesday. The Colts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 47-25.

Leading Macon-East Montgomery Academy to victory were Jamiyah Powell and Miya Tatum. Powell dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 boards, while Tatum almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Powell is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season.

Hooper Academy moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Hooper Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sparta Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they will challenge Lakeside School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Macon-East Montgomery Academy is facing Lakeside School at the right time seeing as Lakeside School is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
