Olympic is 8-2 against Bainbridge since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will face off against the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Olympic has six straight victories, Bainbridge has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Olympic beats Bainbridge with 14 runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went the Trojans' way against Spanaway Lake on Friday as they made off with a 14-4 win. Considering the Trojans have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jules Richmond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Richmond was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Beya Richmond, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan Geier, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Olympic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bainbridge fell victim to North Kitsap and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 27-0 to the Vikings.
Bainbridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby George, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that George has snagged this season.
Olympic pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Bainbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Bainbridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Olympic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. It's a different story for Bainbridge, though, as they've only averaged .106. Will they be able to contain Olympic's hitters?
Olympic took their victory against Bainbridge in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 15-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
