The Sturgeon Bulldogs won against the New Bloomfield Wildcats last Thursday with 41 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Sturgeon took down New Bloomfield 41-27. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sturgeon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sturgeon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Kelly, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Connor Lawson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
New Bloomfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacob Fuhriman, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Jordan, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
New Bloomfield's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Eric Massman got a bit more time on the court (18 vs. his season average of 7.47). Massman made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Sturgeon's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for New Bloomfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sturgeon will stay at home for another game and welcome Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Sturgeon is facing Northeast at the right time seeing as Northeast is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for New Bloomfield, they will be playing at home against Russellville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully New Bloomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
