The Questa Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Mora Rangers/Rangerettes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Questa will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Escalante, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Lobos on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now won three in a row.
Questa took Escalante into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Questa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jocelyne Ortega, who had 19 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Ortega has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Dominguez, who had 26 assists and ten digs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mora, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Penasco 3-0 on Tuesday.
Mora didn't let Penasco take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.
Questa's record now sits at 11-3. As for Mora, their record is now 6-8.
Questa was able to grind out a solid win over Mora when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Rangers/Rangerettes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
