The North Pike Jaguars lost against the Brookhaven Panthers on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. North Pike received a tough blow as they fell 44-27 to Brookhaven. North Pike has struggled against Brookhaven recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Brookhaven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Benson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Watkins, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
North Pike has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season. As for Brookhaven, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Pike will take on Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Pike in Mississippi (Florence is ranked 35th, while North Pike is ranked 107th). As for Brookhaven, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Natchez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Natchez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
