After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mountain View, The Mesa Jackrabbits were happy to have found some success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 42-18 margin over Cesar Chavez. The result was nothing new for Mesa, who have now won four matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Junior St. Cyr had a dynamite game for Mesa, rushing for 258 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. St. Cyr is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Griffin Yamamoto did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Cesar Chavez, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Mesa will look to defend their home field on Friday against Desert Ridge at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Desert Ridge is ranked 35th, while Mesa is ranked 44th). As for Cesar Chavez, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mountain View's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
