Softball Recap: Cameron Has No Trouble Against Unity

Cameron won the last time they faced Unity and things went their way on Thursday too. The Comets blew past the Eagles 11-2. Considering the Comets have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emerson Krahenbuhl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Aubree Kreier and Chloe Larson did most of the damage at the plate: Kreier went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Larson went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Larson has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Viltz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Cameron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 12 consecutive matchups.

Cameron is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Unity, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cameron is set to take on their familiar foe Ladysmith at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Unity will square off against rival Hayward at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
