MORRIS, Okla. -
Kellyville (Okla.) saw its 15-point lead dwindle to nine, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Morris (Okla.) 15-6 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Dakota McDougal touchdown run in the first quarter, the Ponies were up 15-0 at the half.
Kellyville saw its 15-point halftime lead decrease to nine entering the fourth.
Morris' lone touchdown came on a 16-yard pass in the third quarter.
KHS has struggled this season, allowing 43.8 points per game. However, Kellyville's defense dug in and limited the Eagles right around their season average of 8.6 points per game.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which Morris took, 40-0.
The win was a nice bounce back for Kellyville, which lost to Victory Christian last week, 56-14. The loss comes after Morris defeated Henryetta 31-22 last week. The victory ended Kellyville's three-game losing streak.
Morris (1-5) will play a 3A District 6 game against Okmulgee next week, while Kellyville (2-4) will take on Henryetta also in a 3A District 6 game.
