Mahtomedi was the 66-52 winner over Johnson when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mahtomedi Zephyrs were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 53-52 to the Johnson Governors. The Zephyrs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mahtomedi's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-10. As for Johnson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Mahtomedi does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Johnson, they will face off against DeLaSalle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. DeLaSalle knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 27 matches -- so hopefully Johnson likes a good challenge.
