Softball Recap: Cibola Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Cibola extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 12-13 in the process. They had just enough and edged out the Kofa Kings 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since March 12, 2024.

Eliana Corea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Cibola's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jizelle Robles, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Cibola hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 7-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Kofa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered against Cibola since March 7, 2022.

On Kofa's side, Jazmyn Martinez and Kiya Sayre stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Sayre got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Cibola will host Youngker at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Kofa, they are taking a road trip to face off against Liberty at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Kings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
