The Armstrong Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Patrick Henry. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Armstrong in their matchups with Patrick Henry: they've now lost six in a row.
Armstrong lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ajenavi Byrd, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Byrd continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of De'vonte Walker, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Armstrong's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Patrick Henry, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Armstrong will square off against Henrico at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Henrico will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Patrick Henry, they will head out on the road to face off against King William at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. King William will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Patrick Henry is ranked 142nd).
