The Williams Vikings were the 53-46 winner over the Mogollon Mustangs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Williams lost to Mogollon on the road by a decisive 41-25 margin on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Williams has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from Kai Mortensen , who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The contest was Mortensen 's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Fern Chatters was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Leading Mogollon to victory were Heidi Parry and Kindsey Porter. Parry almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals, while Porter scored 11 points along with five steals. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Marissa Parry, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Williams and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Mogollon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Williams will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Rock Point at 5:30 p.m. Mogollon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Morenci at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Morenci is ranked 129th, while Mogollon is ranked 146th).
