The Juniata Valley Hornets are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Southern Huntingdon County Rockets at 5:30 p.m. on December 26th. One thing working in Juniata Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Juniata Valley has not done well against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Juniata Valley breezed by Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on the road to the tune of 82-45. The win was just what Juniata Valley needed coming off of a 95-73 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Juniata Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds. Those 21 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Charlie Mattas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a 57-50 finish the last time they played, Southern Huntingdon County and Southern Fulton decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Southern Huntingdon County fell 18-9 to Southern Fulton on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Huntingdon County has scored all season.
Juniata Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Southern Huntingdon County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Juniata Valley against Southern Huntingdon County when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 58-26 win. With Juniata Valley ahead 45-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
