Franklin County (Frankfort, Ky.) saw its 21-point lead shrink to 10, but hung on to defeat
West Jessamine (Nicholasville, Ky.) 42-32 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Landon Hurst in the first quarter, the Flyers were up 28-14 at the half.
Franklin County grew its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. FC scored two times in the third, including once on a
Chris Roberts touchdown run.
Roberts and Hurst ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Colts. Roberts scored three touchdowns on the ground and Hurst added two as well.
The Frankfort school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 55-29.
The defeat comes as a step back for West Jessamine, which notched a 35-33 victory over East Jessamine in its previous outing. The loss broke West Jessamine's two-game winning streak.
In a 5A District 6 game next week West Jessamine (3-3) takes on Montgomery County, and Franklin County (6-0) will go up against East Jessamine also in a 5A District 6 game.
