The Oakcrest Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Seton at home and fell 63-23. Oakcrest has struggled against Seton recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Oakcrest had strong showings from Mary Mehan, who scored 6 points along with 11 rebounds, and Kate Newsome, who scored 13 points. Newsome scored a full 56.5% of Oakcrest's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Oakcrest has fallen quite a ways from their 18-8 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Seton, they have yet to lose a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 3-2 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakcrest will square off against St. James at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. St. James presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oakcrest in their respective states (St. James is ranked 66th in Maryland, while Oakcrest is ranked 254th in Virginia). As for Seton, they will head out on the road to face off against Immanuel Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
