Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Christopher

Christopher had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 68-60 victory over the Piner Prospectors. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Prospectors are ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Prospectors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Apollo Pereira, who posted 23 points and six rebounds. Pereira's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Brendan Walker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Christopher's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Piner, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-5.

Christopher wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-31 victory against Cardinal Newman on the 28th. As for Piner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-47 loss against Maria Carrillo on the 28th.
