The Rainier Christian Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They really took it to Quilcene for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-18 win at home. That's another feather in the cap for Rainier Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Rainier Christian found their leader in underclassman Nola Russell, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. Luci Ramey was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Rainier Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Quilcene, they bumped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rainier Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Muckleshoot Tribal at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Muckleshoot Tribal's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Rainier Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Rainier Christian. As for Quilcene, they will head out on the road to face off against Crescent at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Crescent has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
