The Falmouth Navigators are taking a road trip to challenge the Scarborough Red Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Falmouth's victory against Cheverus wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Navigators had just enough and edged out the Stags 5-3. The Navigators haven't had any issues with the Stags recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Tyler Simmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Simmons was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other pitching news, Falmouth got a great performance from Milo Matson as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Jacoby Porter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Scarborough put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Massabesic by a score of 6-2. The game was the first time the Red Storm have beaten the Mustangs on their field since May 30, 2017.
Nate Masters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Finn Coburn, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Coburn is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Scarborough's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Falmouth, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Falmouth came up short against Scarborough in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Navigators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
