It was a good run, but the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilbert. The loss put an end to Academy of Science and Innovation's undefeated start to the season.
Academy of Science and Innovation's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Phoebe Candy, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks. Candy hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Symber Ortiz-Sutton, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Academy of Science and Innovation's defeat dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Gilbert, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Academy of Science and Innovation will face off against Capital Prep/Classical Magnet at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gilbert, they will be playing at home against Wamogo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
