Middle Creek is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Green Level is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Middle Creek Mustangs will take on the Green Level Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Middle Creek beat Apex 43-33. Given Middle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Apex is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joi Pergerson was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alysia Pergerson, who scored seven points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Green Level proved on Monday. They came out on top against Wakefield by a score of 47-39.
Green Level can attribute much of their success to Deana Prasad, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, and Ryan Baker, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. Claire Barber was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Middle Creek's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Green Level, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Middle Creek have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Green Level, though, as they've been averaging only 7 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Middle Creek couldn't quite finish off Green Level when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 33-30. Thankfully for Middle Creek, Audrey Ericksen (who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
