Columbus North has gone 5-0 against Rushville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Columbus North Bull Dogs will welcome the Rushville Lions at 7:30 p.m. Columbus North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season.
On Tuesday, Columbus North ended up a good deal behind Roncalli and lost 47-29. The matchup marked the Bull Dogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Ava Wilson was Columbus North's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Kaylie Harmon took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Meanwhile, Rushville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Connersville. The contest was a 16-16 toss-up at halftime, but the Lions couldn't quite close it out.
Columbus North will need focus on slowing down Charlotte Caviness, one of several Rushville players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points. The dominant performance also gave Caviness a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Kelsey Morgan, who put up four points and eight boards.
Even though they lost, Rushville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Columbus North, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's contest: Columbus North has been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 37% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Rushville, though, as they've only made 24.8% of their three-pointers this season. Given Columbus North's sizable advantage in that area, Rushville will need to find a way to close that gap.
Columbus North was able to grind out a solid victory over Rushville when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 57-49. Will Columbus North repeat their success, or does Rushville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
