The Ouachita Parish Lions will welcome the St. Amant Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Amant took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ouachita Parish, who comes in off a win.
Ouachita Parish is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They never let Pineville get on the board and left with a 56-0 win on Thursday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Rebels are ranked 83rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montrell Conner had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 211 yards and five TDs while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushing for 35 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Ouachita Parish's success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Seneca Battle was another key player, picking up 88 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ouachita Parish proved: they limited Pineville to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least five total tackles, Ja'Marcus Jacobs stood above the rest. He forced one fumble, made five total tackles, and defended one pass. Ouachita Parish didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.2.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between St. Amant and Denham Springs, and Denham Springs kept the tradition alive. The Gators were outmatched by the Yellowjackets and fell 54-26. The matchup marked the Gators' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Ouachita Parish will need to focus on slowing down Tre Mayfield, one of several St. Amant players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 274 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 37 yards. Another player making a difference was Jaquan Gordon, who picked up 160 receiving yards and one score.
Ouachita Parish's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for St. Amant, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.
Ouachita Parish was dealt a bruising 31-3 loss at the hands of St. Amant when the teams last played back in November of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 28-0.
