The Southeast Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Thursday, Southeast didn't have quite enough to beat Uniontown and fell 14-12.
Meanwhile, Northeast got themselves on the board against Northern Heights on Thursday, but Northern Heights never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wildcats 42-0 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Northeast's eight-point performance the matchup before.
Northeast's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Braden Young, who rushed for 237 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per carry, and Tayshawn Gaynor, who rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Young was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Southeast's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.29 points per game. As for Northeast, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-6.
Southeast came up short against Northeast in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 14-6. Can Southeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
